Jamie Hidalgo, MA, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

My name is Jamie - I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working in the Colorado Springs area. I believe that building strong therapeutic relationships with each person and working together to determine the best treatment approach are the keys to successful therapy.

I began my career helping those struggling with addiction, domestic violence, mental illness, stress disorders, and legal difficulties. My passion for this work led me to pursue my Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver in 2012. This allowed me the opportunity to work with incarcerated women to improve their mental health, and later with teens and adults, both male and female, who are survivors of sexual assault.

While I developed my private practice, I worked in community mental health settings to provide therapy services to children, teens, adults, and families in need. Each of the people and families I worked with had unique stories and reasons for seeking therapy. It was during this time that I continued to deepen my understanding and develop skills for working with diverse and complex issues.

These experiences have shaped my practice and my approach as a counselor. I believe that, regardless of the struggle that brings you to therapy, the key to change and success is the counseling relationship we develop; this enables you to trust and find a sense of safety within the sessions that ultimately allows for your exploration and growth as a person.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another.
